My students gave some pretty good Barack Obama imitations yesterday and today. You forget how daunting doing something like that can be. In one class, after all had done their bit, they asked me to do mine. I somewhat balked, but they egged me on, and I went up to the podium I had had brought down. Standing there in front of them all and getting ready to deliver my best Obama I was a little nervous. I admitted it wasn’t an easy thing to do, then went into it.
In other news, we have a student on probation. She was caught cheating on one midterm, missed a chance to take another one that she was late to, and, just on top of that, was accused of bullying during the student government elections. She is one of those students who does as much as she can to test the waters and get her way, always with excuses and extensions and pleading. The dam burst today. She found out she got a zero on two midterms, lost her vice presidency and came in second on her Obama speech to a feisty little Pakistani.
In other news, in a few minutes I am going to a seafood fest arranged by our Dutch connection, elevators were installed in our apartments today, and it’s Thursday.
I feel like all of these topics could be a longer entry, but there’s so little time and I struggle to think of what would be the most appropriate. So ends another week at the Asian University for Women.
