Basketball practice, May 28, 2010

We had our Friday basketball practice yesterday afternoon. It was at the medical college, our first court and now our secondary court. We made an arrangement with a school, but when it rains that court floods a bit, so we sometimes back to our original court. It’s certainly much nicer, although it forces us to play half-court.

This is about as much "coaching" as I ever do.

I really don't like to shoot—it's not practice for me—but often I can't help myself.

She's got her hands up, just like I said, now we just need to take it back, so pass it to her!

That evening the team cooked some food for us. They made some Bhutanese and Nepali dishes: bacon curry, spicy potatoes, cilantro salad and the national dish of Bhutan, ema datshi, chili cheese. It was wonderful. We ate on the roof in the dark, and they told stories about ghosts and spirits, and we discussed which was nicer: Nepal (not so safe these days) or Bhutan (“The Switzerland of Asia”).
